Natural Mirrors: Water and Light

Introduction

In this, I will make an analysis and discuss water in the context of Royal Park. Water is interesting in that it's one of the few materials that can considered natural yet it is reflective, something uncommon. It is said that before mirrors were invented that was how people knew how they looked, in the reflections of the waters from which they drank and bathed. Nowadays, we have mirrors everywhere but what of one that projects the natural. In that way, Royal Park has a few natural mirrors, in which an abundance of life and greenery sprout from.

Storage Wetland Park

The Storage Wetland Park has a beautiful pond with murky silty waters that reflect the perfect blue skies above it with it with crystal clarity, without transparency to impede it in this goal. It is only broken up by the swimming of the local waterfowl.

Australian Native Garden Pond

Tucked away in the Australian native garden is a small pond, despite it's size it is a beautiful water element in the otherwise boring patch of maintained grass where couples picnic. Covered in duckweed, ducks swim about the pond, breaking through the thin green membrane formed by the plants.

Trin Warren Tam-Boore Bellbird Waterhole

These wetlands have a thin layer of water leaving the soil beneath it a mess of muck and mud, but along it's banks are windswept long grasses line the winding paths along the sides of the waterhole.

Conclusion

The water in Royal Park promote life and creatures to come to this green space and find refuge from the heat. These bodies of water reflect not only the trees and sky but also the natrual beauty of the park itself.
